Sandrin Monza Titanium, tungsten carbide, Recoil Lock, 71 HRC

The Monza has a tungsten carbide blade, which, with its unusually high hardness of 71 HRC, far surpasses any steel in terms of abrasion resistance and cutting performance.
For a long time, the use of tungsten carbide for utility knife blades was considered impossible. Due to its extremely high degree of hardness and the associated increased susceptibility to breakage, this miracle material was unattractive to the knife industry in its previous form.
However, Alessandro Colombatto, owner of Turmond S.p.A based in Turin, Italy, succeeded in finding the ideal composition for precisely this purpose. With a still incredible hardness of “only” 71 HRC, Sandrin Knives knife blades are both flexible and considerably more break-resistant than ceramic blades.
This achieves a cutting performance that is far superior to any known classic or modern steel. The manufacturer states that the cutting edge remains sharp 20 times longer than the best premium powder steels (see also comparison list in the images). And although the blades do not contain any chromium, Sandrin Knives are just as rust-resistant as stainless steel knives.
The Monza comes standard with a silver DLC-coated titanium handle.
